The Different Types Of Mold

Molds are very small microscopic organisms that produce spores as a form of reproduction, much like dandelions. They thrive in places where there is moisture and food for them. The spores of many different types of are floating in the air this very minute.

When these spores land in an area of optimum conditions, these spores grow into colonies that can stay in hiding for many years. Most types of colonies stay under floors or in between walls and ceilings and flourish. They can eat through organic material in slowly but surely. Other colonies grow on exposed food and other damp areas that have the right conditions.

Different Types Of Mold

The more common types of found in homes are Cladosporium, Penicillium, Aspergillus, Alternaria and Mucor. These are types of that are not particularly toxic but it is still better to avoid touching them it takes lab tests to determine what kind they are. Even inhalation of the more toxic types of can be lethal as the spores themselves may contain mycotoxin.

If you wish to do your own removal, especially if the spot is small and manageable, you can mix 1 cup of beach to 1 gallon of water with a dash of detergent. The bleach can ultimately kill the but the ones that may have seeped into the wood will need cutting or replacing. Always wear protective gear when trying to do your own removal and make sure the area is well ventilated before starting the removal. Protective gear means gloves and a mask to avoid inhalation.
